Advice on Parts (or other musings) for extending valve adjustment intervals?

Posted by onetrackmind at December 05. 2006

I remember some time back that Brian asked about aftermarket collets at Skagit.  I also know that 999R's had extended valve adjustment intervals, and that 1098's are supposed to have them as well...even longer?  From talking to some service guys long ago, I was told that they check them every 6K, but almost never have to make adjustments until at least 12K, even with stock parts.  (This is on my 2-Valver, at least).

Anybody else looking for upgraded parts for these?  I'll be due for 12K, and I know that the aftermarket has stuff, and Ducati themselves have been working on improving the wear characteristics of these sliding parts.  My only problem, time to do the research.

Any thoughts?

did someone say "upgrades"?

Keep us posted.  I'm wondering if there is a titanium solution to the collets?

tonupyank just had mbp collets put in by Skagit to extend valve checks. Ti would be nice but very expensive.

Other option for rockers are DLC to improve wear, coat your cams by performance coatings, even cryogenics. How much do you want to spend?

Eric, you should call brothers, get their take on the extended range collets, you might be surprised with their advice.
