A word of caution...

Posted by PavementPirate at March 07. 2007
Many of our favorite side roads still have residual sand & gravel slurry on them. I was not-so-subtly reminded of this on my quick ride yesterday. In a matter of an hour I managed to put ass to pavement three times. Luckily they were all low speed and didn't hurt much beyond my pride and few pipe & crash bung scrapes.

Be careful out there guys.

Glad to hear your OK. I haven't had the bike out for awhile. It doesn't help that I'm still working on new headlight brackets, so no headlight on the bike right now. Soon, hopefully soon.

What kind of new headlight are you installing? I am still toying with installing a skull headlamp. The problem is the company that makes it is unresponsive.

Nothing really exciting. I haven't liked the big round since I bought her, so I picked up a V-Rod assembly. I'm fabbing carbon brackets to replace the aluminum ones and adding DP signals. Should clean up her nose quite a bit. Hoping to be done in the next few weeks. Just need to get some dedicated time to play with her. I'll post pic's when done.

Which roads?

244th & Eastlake Sammamish in particular... So long as you manage to stay in the cagers tire paths it isn't too bad. The difficulty is in entering or exiting neighborhood streets, lane changes, and tight right turns. I am quite sure having not ridden in a month or so didn't help my form or finesse much. I am sure the conditions are similar in many of the areas hit by the snow/ice this winter. I just wish the WADOT would get with the program and clean the damn roads off...
