Bike/Mod of the month #1
Up to Superbikes
One thing I wanted to see from this group was bike/mod of the month. Since we don't have one for this month here is mine.
Me, Tonup, and another Duc guy, TC. Took off a completely good Mg swingarm with a Corse hub and put on a Dymag Cf arm on. Dymag made ~ 20 arms total in 2 versions, Race and street. This is a race version. The arms were well made but very expensive so did not sell well. A spectacular crash (caused by distributor modification) was the death of the arms. Too bad they are really beautiful and 4lbs lighter than stock. Tonup will be doing a full How To about swingarm swaps soon. Enjoy.

Dude, very nice. Sorry I missed this little project.

The whole process took about 5 hours. The hardest part is removing the swingarm from the frame and then reinstalling. Haynes manual calls for dropping the engine. An alternative is to pivot the engine out of the way. The third way and the one we used is to loosen the back top motor mount bolt and spred the frame so the swingarm would drop out. You do the reverse to get the new one back in. You only need to spred the frame about a half inch but it's a challenge. Full write up soon to come.
