first season ride

Posted by RockStar at January 27. 2007
so did anyone else get out today? Woohoo, Zak and I rode out to Cocquitlam Airport out past Hoquiam...with some Hardleys. It was nice, sunny and thanks to the fleece liner from my SCUBA dry-suit...warm ;)

That's funny, I use the BARE fleece liner from my drysuit as well. Good to know another diver who rides!  My son was on a ride with PNWRiders yesterday on his way to Westport and he said he saw you out riding. We really are a small community ;)

hey Marty!

yeah talked to your son a bit. Nice kid and seems pretty grounded. Will we see him on the track this year? :)

He passed us just before Aberdeen after we had talked (not too fast), they turned off before the draw bridge and we continued on a bit. Love that 695! My sis' just bnought one in Houston.

Urs and I did about 300 miles on Saturday. We went with the PNWRiders group to Sumas on the back roads: http://nwbikers.com/WRD_ConwayLaconerEdsonSumasRR2.html It was cold, but clear. We hit several icy spots.

Ciao!

Bill

I got in about 120 miles on Saturday and about 80 on Sunday. I'm absolutely loving the big-bore kit and the lightened crankshaft. I think that I now have a perfect street motor. It is amazingly smooth. It idles perfectly. The only time that it has stalled is when the motor was still cold. I don't feel like I lost any of the stock motor's driveability at all and I got a ton more torque and a good boost in horsepower. I am stunned by how quickly the motor spins up. I'm going to have to reprogram my brain/muscles to be ready for power wheelies in first and second and for the motor to be bumping into the rev limiter much sooner than it ever would with the stock motor. As far as I'm concerned, it was $2800 (parts and labor) that was well spent. I'm really looking forward to finding a gap in my schedule that will allow me to get up north so that I can get together with some of you and you can check this thing out.
